Been denying that there’s lines to connect Think we’re lying ‘bout the noose on our necks Got your finger on the pulse - I can see But you ain’t listened to a word out of me You’re afraid that if you hear what i say you’ll be culpable and you’ll have to pay So you’re better off to push me aside to live with skeletons that you try to hide I don’t need no white validation You’ve seen the videos. You’ll even retweet Broken bodies getting cold in the street Yet you hand us condescending rebuke if our protests dare disturb your commute You’ve accepted that the game has been rigged You think it’s tragic but "it is what it is” So the thing that seems to get on your nerves We ask for justice that we fucking deserve I don’t need no white validation I don’t need it ‘cause you’re never gonna give it up I’m tired of so much pain Exhausted, accosted everyday You see our needs but save yourself I play the race card because it’s the one you’ve dealt I don’t need no white validation

Coping mechanism taught for protection, Hide your identity interpret as shame. Deny your identity Failure falsely blamed Done nothing wrong, still shoved down the drain Because: they hold heads under water and then blame you for drowning Rhetoric of safety, normalize brutality Lies you'll be saved by respectability Tazed, beaten, profiled, evidence disappears But you're one of the good ones that couldn't happen here The violence that keeps you in fear Pass in their eyes but don't pass in your mind Indoctrinated to believe that your the wrong kind say what you're told betray your history do what you're told to ignore the blood stains You put on that uniform Cover the brown with blue Violence is the standard Will you be one of the good ones? you'll hold heads underwater And still think you're a good one You'll hold heads underwater And still think you're a good one

There is no way to hide the sun beneath a stone The truth'll come out, the truth'll come out What you don't know, you don't trust What you don't know, you don't like Is it pain that brings us together? Is it true? Destroy the other They say the law of existence is struggle Definition by exclusion of the rest A ruthless war of survival But to us, the means are the end What you don't know, you don't trust What you don't know, you don't like There is no way to hide the sun beneath a stone Definition by exclusion? You'll be alone.

Since I opened my eyes and decided to take it all in I'm just relaxed and living my life like I've got the axe and I'm swinging it high Nobody knows how my cup overflows, gingerly dripping I'm filled to the brim Never taught to talk, just blah blah Open up that mouth real wide, ha ha Don't tell me I'm blessed, I'm not blessed

Clawing at my body. I haven't felt right for weeks. Out of my way, fucking "choose life" and "god hates gays". I'll try not to attack you, but I need a fucking vacuum. Penny royal, tansy, ginger root and carrot seed. Saffron, lemon balm, smart weed, and vitamin c. Out of my way... Knowledge is power and we're gonna take it. All you politicians and doctors can try and fake it! Out of my way...

To dance without joy is mean. But who makes the real money. He took my house. He took my home. And there were no signs up. I got no time. Oh men oh men they're everywhere. They're in my thoughts they're in my hair. But baby I was born to lose. Consult with the humans. But I got no time. I see you go, die scum. I see you, go die scum. You're limping along. Take it once, take it twice. You broke my heart, you made me cry. There's fire fire everywhere. Cigarettes and time boy. It's like I was sober. Diamond dogs and diamond eyes. But I got no time. I got no time. Save yourself.

about

This Fall, 50 bay area punk bands came together on ‒ Evaluate What You Tolerate: a two volume compilation and zine against white supremacy, racism and hate ‒ to raise $$ for the Oakland-based Anti Police-Terror Project (APTP) and their work to a create strong community support system for Black, Brown and Poor people.

Evaluate What You Tolerate was made in solidarity with people who are profiled, left unsupported, pushed out of their homes, murdered by police, made to feel like they don’t belong, deported and targeted.

All proceeds from Evaluate What You Tolerate will benefit the Oakland-based Anti Police-Terror Project, a group of concerned and committed institutions, organizations, and individuals dedicated to ending state-sanctioned murder and violence perpetrated against Black, Brown and Poor people. They’re a Black led, multi-racial, multi-generational coalition that organizes to resist police terror and to create a strong and sustainable community support system.

Made with love and rage on Ohlone Lands.
